Town staff has located and isolated the leak that caused pressure to drop on the Town’s system. The leak was found to originate from an unmetered, private fire line behind an industry in Town. The leak was in a wooded area and flowing directly to the Tar River. As the water tanks fill, pressure should be back to normal by this evening for all customers. Town crews are sampling throughout the system to provide 100% assurance that there are no issues with water quality. Test results will be available in 24 hours. Citizens should expect the boil water advisory to expire by tomorrow (Saturday) evening. For now, as a precaution the Town recommends that you continue to boil any water used for consumption (drinking, food preparation, brushing your teeth, etc.).
