An Official NC “Fit Community”
Recognized as a “Fit Community” by Fit Together, a statewide initiative of Blue Cross Blue Shield North Carolina and the NC Health and Wellness Trust to combat obesity and excessive weight, Tarboro is an active community where citizens and visitors enjoy an abundance of parks and recreational/community activities.
The goal of the Parks and Recreation Department is to plan, develop and maintain safe recreational facilities and programs for the health, pleasure and educational use of the community and its visitors. The department is responsible for parks, ball fields, recreational and sports programs, community centers and swimming pools and the Tar River boat ramps. Our staff is focused on making and creating recreational experiences that enhance the quality of life and contribute to the overall health of our unique community.
Special Notice: M.A. Ray Center and Braswell Center are now open on Sundays from 1pm-5pm (90-day trial beginning on 4/22/18).
You are invited to join the Tarboro Parks and Recreation Department and our consultant, Withers Ravenel, in establishing a new direction with the revision to our Parks and Recreation Master Plan.
