The Town of Tarboro today received confirmation that a Town employee has tested positive for COVID-19. The case marks the first known positive case of a Town employee.
The Town of Tarboro has been in contact with the Edgecombe County Health Department to ensure we follow proper protocols.  As a precautionary measure, all coworkers and external contacts who have been in direct contact with this employee have been notified and asked to self-quarantine by staying at home and monitoring their health for symptoms.   In addition to these actions the Town will be sanitizing the building thoroughly and continuing to clean surfaces regularly in all buildings.
On March 20th, the Town of Tarboro closed all Town buildings to the public. As a result of this action, the employee has not had direct contact with the public while working for the Town of Tarboro.
The Town of Tarboro will handle each case with the utmost respect to privacy while also informing potentially affected staff and taking swift measures to mitigate the spread of the virus. The Town is reminding all employees to follow the CDC guidance about COVID-19 to prevent illness and recognize symptoms.
Town Manager,
Troy Lewis
